Indiana and Michigan voters set for Election Day

Indiana and Michigan voters will go to the polls Tuesday, November 3, for the 2026 general election. Polling hours and voter ID rules differ between the two states.

In Indiana, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time. Voters can check their registration and polling place at IndianaVoters.com. State law requires most voters to show a government-issued photo ID, such as an Indiana driver’s license or state ID, a U.S. passport or a qualifying military ID. If a voter lacks an acceptable ID, they may cast a provisional ballot and provide the required documentation—or affirm an applicable exemption—to their county election board by noon Friday, November 13. in.gov

In Michigan, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. Voters still in line at 8 p.m. may vote. The state recommends checking your polling place and registration at Michigan.gov/Vote. Voters will be asked for photo ID, but those without one can sign an affidavit and cast a ballot. Eligible residents who still need to register or update their address can do so in person at their city or township clerk’s office on Election Day. They must bring proof of current residency and be in line by 8 p.m. to register and vote.
