GoFundMe launched for longtime Zimmy’s cook injured in explosion
A GoFundMe account has been established to help a longtime Zimmy’s Tavern employee who was seriously injured in the explosion and fire that destroyed the Cass County business.

Luis, a longtime cook at Zimmy’s, suffered serious burns and respiratory injuries in the incident. According to information provided by those organizing the fundraiser, Luis was inside the tavern and entering the basement when the explosion occurred.
He was taken to Bronson Hospital, where he remains hospitalized and is expected to face an extended recovery.
Organizers say Luis has been a familiar presence at Zimmy’s for years and is well known among customers and members of the community.
The fundraiser is intended to help Luis and his family with medical expenses, lost income and other costs associated with his recovery.
Zimmy’s Tavern, a longtime Union gathering place, was destroyed by an explosion and fire earlier this week. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.
