Mishawaka man charged following shots fired incident
A Mishawaka man has been arrested following a reported shots-fired incident that stemmed from a neighborhood dispute.
Police were called to the 800 block of Sarah Street around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, after receiving reports of a disturbance involving several people, firearms, and possible gunfire.
Investigators say an ongoing disagreement over parking escalated into a verbal confrontation. During the dispute, a firearm was allegedly displayed and discharged.
Following an investigation, officers executed a search warrant at a residence and recovered multiple firearms, ammunition, and other evidence. One of the firearms had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction.
Police arrested 21-year-old Latrayveeon Fleming on preliminary charges of Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Pointing a Firearm at Another Person, and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon.
Authorities say no one was injured and believe the incident involved people who knew one another. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active and additional charges are possible.
