Michiana law enforcement agencies increase patrols
Law enforcement agencies across Michiana will be increasing patrols from April 4 through April 13 as part of a targeted effort to crack down on speeding and distracted driving.
Officials say drivers who are caught exceeding the speed limit or holding a phone while behind the wheel can expect to be pulled over.
The enforcement effort highlights Indiana’s Hands-Free Law, which prohibits drivers from holding mobile devices while operating a vehicle.
Authorities stress that speeding and distracted driving are among the leading causes of serious and fatal crashes, making enforcement a top priority.
Drivers are encouraged to take simple precautions, including putting their phones away, slowing down, and allowing extra time to reach their destinations.
Law enforcement officials say the goal of the increased patrols is to improve safety and ensure that everyone makes it home safely.
