Four apartments are not livable after a fire at a complex on South Bend’s east side.

Firefighters were called to the Jefferson Apartments on Thursday morning, June 18, after a small fire started in the attic above one unit.

Crews put out the flames, but water damage left four apartments unlivable.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury. No one else was hurt.
