Elkhart retailer named National Retail Federation’s 2026 America’s Retail Champion

Danny Reynolds, owner of Stephenson’s of Elkhart, has been named the National Retail Federation’s 2026 America’s Retail Champion, the organization’s highest honor recognizing small business owners who advocate for the retail industry.

Reynolds received the award during the NRF Retail Advocates Summit on July 15 in Washington, D.C. The annual program recognizes retailers who engage in public policy efforts at the local, state and federal levels.

This year, 50 retailers from 27 states were recognized as America’s Retail Champions, with Reynolds selected to receive the program’s top award.

Reynolds has spent more than 30 years helping lead Stephenson’s, the family-owned Elkhart business that has served the community since 1931. In addition to overseeing the business, he has worked with lawmakers on issues affecting small businesses and retailers.

Following the announcement, U.S. Rep. Rudy Yakym recognized Reynolds in the Congressional Record.

According to the National Retail Federation, more than 98% of retail businesses in the United States employ fewer than 50 people, highlighting the role small retailers play in local economies and communities.
