Elkhart County Miracle likely out for 2026 season After Northern League loses stadium lease
The Elkhart County Miracle is unlikely to play during the 2026 season after the Northern League lost its long-standing stadium lease agreement in Whiting.
Miracle founder Craig Wallin said the team was informed by league officials that the City of Whiting chose not to renew the stadium arrangement after 15 years.
“The Northern League notified us a short time ago that their stadium lease arrangement with the city of Whiting has not been renewed despite 15 years of playing there,” Wallin said.
Without the facility, Northern League teams no longer have a location for many road games, creating major scheduling and operational issues for franchises across the league.
Wallin said the Miracle quickly explored other league opportunities, but no workable alternatives could be finalized in time for the upcoming season.
“That news caused us to quickly look into other league options, but no suitable arrangements could be found on such a short notice,” he said.
The Elkhart County Miracle joined the independent Northern League in 2023 and won a league championship in 2024. The team also reached the postseason championship series again last season before falling short in the title game.
Wallin said the organization hopes to return to the field by the 2027 season and thanked fans and supporters for backing the team during its first three years.
The team says updates about future plans will be posted at elkhartcountymiracle.com.
