South Bend Woman Arrested After Serious Injury Crash on U.S. 20
A South Bend woman has been arrested on multiple charges following a two-vehicle crash that left a Goshen man with serious injuries.
According to authorities, the crash happened around 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, on eastbound U.S. 20 near the County Road 26 underpass.
Investigators say a 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by 50-year-old Kathy Lunsford of South Bend collided with a 2015 Ford Focus driven by a 56-year-old Goshen man.
The other driver reportedly lost consciousness and complained of hip pain. Lunsford was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
Authorities determined that Lunsford was operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in serious bodily injury. She was also allegedly found in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a legend drug.
Lunsford was taken into custody and booked into the Elkhart County Jail. The charges listed include operating while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury and multiple drug-related offenses.
