Training expanded to get more Hoosiers into healthcare careers

Indiana is expanding a workforce training program aimed at helping more Hoosiers move into healthcare careers.

Governor Mike Braun says Power Up Indiana provides funding for employer-led training programs designed to address healthcare worker shortages while creating pathways to higher-paying jobs. The program is administered by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

Some health systems in Indana are using the funding to help current employees pursue credentials in nursing, medical imaging, sonography and other fields while continuing to receive their regular wages.

Some employment firms are using the program to train workers for community-based healthcare positions, including patient services and care coordination.
